Matthews Moving Systems, wants to be sure your move is safe and worry-free. We have created this information to warn you of the danger that can arise from packing certain common household products for shipment in a moving van.

Packing flammable articles can cause an explosion or fire

Heat from the sun can raise temperatures inside a closed moving van. To reach their destination, vans often travel through warm climates or high altitudes (both dangerous to pressurized containers). Even in the middle of winter, heat builds up inside. Many common items, including aerosol hair spray or cleaning products, can trigger an explosion or fire that can destroy your possessions when packed inside a van.

While Matthews Moving System packers and drivers are trained not to pack or load any articles that may be explosive, you are responsible for ensuring that such items are not a part of your shipment. For your own safety, make sure that no member of your family packs these items in a container to be moved. Replacing a can of hair spray is much easier than replacing all of your belongings.

Pack safely for a satisfying move

Matthews Moving Systems wants you to have a satisfying move. For the safety of your belongings, review and eliminate all dangerous items before packing.

Only professionally purged propane tanks can be moved. A verifying receipt will be required.

Matthews Moving Systems’ Bill of Lading states: "The shipper shall indemnify carrier against loss or damage caused by inclusion in the shipment of explosives or dangerous articles or goods."
